click here to book michael lee nowMichael Lee is a Norwegian American writer, youth worker, and community organizer. He has received grants and scholarships from the Minnesota State Arts Board, the LOFT Literary Center, and the Bread Loaf Writers Conference. Winner of the Scotti Merrill Award for poetry from the Key West Literary Seminar, his poetry has appeared or is forthcoming in Ninth Letter, Hayden's Ferry Review, Indiana Review, Poetry Northwest, Copper Nickel and the Best New Poets Anthology among others. His first book of poems, “The Only Worlds We Know” is forthcoming from Button Poetry (August 2019). Remaining active on the stage, he is a Rustbelt Regional Poetry Slam Champion, a National Poetry Slam semi-finalist and an Individual World Poetry Slam Finalist. He was voted "Best Poet" of the 2011 College Unions Poetry Slam. A graduate of the Harvard Graduate School of Education, Michael has worked as a dishwasher, a farmhand, a teaching artist, a social studies teacher, a speechwriter, and a case manager for youth experiencing homelessness. He lives, works, writes, dreams and grows food in North Minneapolis with his Pitbull Levis.
